Creating Timeless Wearable Art Jewelry

Artist Statement

Inspired by the Japanese aesthetic principle of wabi-sabi – the beauty of things imperfect – my fascination with organic lines and textures in nature led me to explore the wonderful world of jewelry making.

I create my work using various traditional hand fabrication techniques including soldering, reticulation, saw piercing and anticlastic raising. Sometimes I let the piece in front of me tell me what it wants to be and how it needs to be created.

Beside metals and gemstones, I love to incorporate the ancient art of plique-à-jour and cloisonné enameling to add colors and depth to my work. The juxtaposition between molten silver and textured gold, paired with the delicate shine vitreous enamel, allows me to marry two contrasting elements of beauty into one harmonious piece of wearable art that truly celebrates and elevates the wearer’s essence.

While much of my inspirations are drawn from nature, I am often inspired by life experiences, dreams, or compelling stories that move me to create beautiful and meaningful pieces of heirloom jewelry.
